Environmental Protection

Hi, it’s Patsy Brison, Town Council member from Ward 2. Here with “Roscoe the Rock “ to tell you about the beach renourishment project we recently finished. This project helps to protect and nurture the coastline. It is paid for by beach preservation fees collected from our overnight visitors and also a small bond issue which we could find with our Triple A bond rating. That’s what I call environmental protection and fiscal responsibility. Thank you!

Oyster Shell Recycling

Hi, my name is Patsy Brison, Hilton Head Town Council for Ward 2. I’m here at the Coastal Discovery Museum, the site of a portion of the oyster shell recycling and reef building project. Oyster shells are brought here from restaurants and festivals to be bagged and later to be taken to an area to build a new reef. This project helps with four things:

  • Recycling oyster shells
  • Protecting marsh areas from erosion
  • A place for new oysters to grow
  • Oyster filter water

It is a win, win, win, win project!

Shelter Cove Cultural Arts

Hi, it’s Patsy Brison Hilton Head Town Council member representing Ward 2. I’m here at Veteran’s Memorial Park in the Shelter Cove area along the multi-use pathway which includes a number of pieces of art. I invite you to come and experience the art, the pathway, Broad Creek, the marsh area. I am a supporter of the cultural arts district that the town is working with the state to establish in this area. I hope you will support it too.
